Hi, My name is Andy Smallman. I started this blog on July 1, 2010, just before my family (my wife, Melinda, and our daughters, Chloe & Ella) left Seattle to live in Nantes, France for 13 months. Each day, and by that I mean EVERY day, I posted what we had done as a way to keep in touch with our family and friends back home.
What I hope you find here is a fun record to review about our incredible year in France. Use the Monthly Archive tool on the right and choose a month to visit, understanding that the sabbatical took place from July 2010 through July 2011. Or be a little more adventurous and type in something in the search feature. As a suggestion, search “Line 2” (no quotes).
These days, I maintain a personal blog, although I no longer post every day. I did, however, pick right up with my daily writing there after the sabbatical on August 1, 2011. I have also posted there on each of our subsequent trips to France, which have taken place annually since the sabbatical.
