23 July 2014 : Photos From Our Trip to Normandy Published on July 23, 2014April 3, 2022 by Andy Smallman This is Bérnard’s parents’ house in Auvillars. We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. Here are Bérnard’s parents. Among many things, M Bertail told us about his family being displaced from their house by the Nazis when he was 14 (a different house than the one in the photo above). Chloe* and Ella outside the Bertail house. Christine, explaining herself. Again. Bérnard took us to a farm where Calvados, an apple brandy from Normandy, is made. This man gave us a tour and tastes. I’m bringing home a 10 year-old bottle courtesy of Bérnard! Celeste, Melinda, Ella & Chloe* attempt a volleyball game in the Bertail backyard. This is a close-up of the Bertail mailbox. I think the handwritten name is charming. Bérnard’s sister, front and center, was also visiting.
